Ruth Wilson, 79, of Poteau died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Ruth was born July 6, 1933, in Glendale to Wilburn Perry and Ida Mae (Balentine) Glenn. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Poteau. She was a retired hair dresser. The love of Ruth’s life was the Special Olympics and the Democratic Party. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Lawrence, Loren, Cecil, John, Oscar and Fred; and son, Jerry Bob Thompson.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Glenda Ruth (Thompson) and Wayne Hey of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren, Shelli Hey and Kyle Hey; four great-grandchildren; other relatives and loved ones; many beloved friends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, in Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, with Bill Willis, Kenneth Corn and the Rev. Jeff Bengs officiating. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery, Glendale. Pallbearers will be Marion Fry, Lance Smith, Bruce Curnutt, Jerry Balentine and Neil Brannon. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Rothermel, Roger Miller, Randell Foster, Philip Zearley and Chris Caldwell.
The family will visit with friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Evans and Miller Funeral Home.
