SPIRO — It was a battle of the Bulldogs on Thursday night at McClain stadium as Spiro took on Okmulgee in a preseason scrimmage.
Both teams ran 10 to 12 plays against each other, alternating possessions. Later, the teams played a shortened quarter, bringing in downs and distance and some uncontested kicking game duties.
Okmulgee took the first possession. Out of 10 plays, Spiro's defense held the visitors to just two gains of positive yardage, recording four incompletions and a sack by Frankie Solomon.
Spiro, which will open its season at home Sept. 6 against perennial powerhouse Vian, will have one more scrimmage next Thursday night against Stilwell at McClain Stadium.
