With the regular season complete, now the Carl Albert State College softball team can focus on the next stage — the Region II Tournament.
The Lady Vikings will meet the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Lady Norse at 1 p.m. this afternoon in the opening round of the Region II Tournament at Oklahoma City's Hall of Fame Stadium.
While the Lady Vikings' record (16-32) is not what all had hoped it would be, Carl Albert Coach David Holt believes the team is peaking.
“We're playing our best softball right now without a shadow of a doubt,” Holt said. “We've won six of our last eight games. The girls are excited about this tournament. They've been really working hard. We're playing our best softball right now. We just dug ourselves a hole early in the season, and we ended up getting the No. 7 seed in the tournament. So, we dug ourselves a hole early, but we're playing well right now.”
