Senior defensive back says Pirates ready to bounce back Friday night at Muldrow
Last Thursday night was not a good one for the Poteau Pirates football team, which suffered its first defeat of the season in a loss to Tulsa Cascia Hall at Costner Stadium. However, Poteau senior defensive back Devin Anderson says the Pirates will bounce back Friday night on the road when they take on the Muldrow Bulldogs.“We're very anxious,” Anderson said. “We're going to bounce back hard. We'll come back and show everybody that we're going to be the No. 1 team [in District 4A-4] out here. When we go to Muldrow this week, we're going to go out there and do what we do best. We'll let people know that just because we lost one game, it doesn't mean anything. We're going to show people that we're as good as we really are.”Anderson said the Pirates just did not do things last week leading up to the loss to Cascia Hall as they have been doing in prior weeks.“We didn't prepare like we should have for that game,” he said. “We didn't come out [last week] and work like we needed to, but we've been preparing for these next two games. We're really going to get together and show people what we're made of.”• • •The Poteau Pirates football team will have a meet-and-greet event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bob Lee Kidd Civic Center.Besides getting acquainted with this year's Pirate players, there will be an auction for items such as merchandise, gift certificates and baked goods.Hamburger/cheeseburger baskets will be available for $5, which includes chips and a drink.• • •The Poteau Pirates' Week 10 road game against Tulsa Rogers has been moved back to Thursday, Nov. 7 at S.E.
