The Poteau Lady Pirates golf team could very well be going for a three-peat as Class 4A state champions. They won the state title in 2012 and were a shot behind Hilldale after last year's first day of the Class 4A State Tournament.
However, wintry-like weather conditions forced the cancelation of the second day of the final 18 holes. Thus, the Lady Pirates finished an extremely disappointing shot behind state champion Hilldale.
However, this is a new year, and the Lady Pirates will try to get their second state title in three seasons when the Class 4A State Tournament takes place Wednesday and Thursday at Lake Hefner South Golf Course in Oklahoma City.
