Senior linebacker believes team's defense can perform a lot better

Being a linebacker on the Poteau Pirates' defensive unit, senior Kaydon Evans was not totally pleased with the team's defensive performance — even though the Pirates beat the Durant Lions 43-42 in double overtime Friday night at Costner Stadium.
“I don't think our defense showed what we're capable of doing,” he said. “I think we gave up way too many points. But that's how it goes in the first game. You really don't know what to expect, but I think we can do much better than that. I think we'll do a lot better than that this week [against Van Buren, Ark.]. I think we'll show people what we really can do.”
