It looked like last week, the Poteau Pirates were going to snatch a win away from the jaws of defeat last Friday night against Tulsa Webster. Instead, the Warriors scored in the waning moments to snatch the win away from Poteau. Needless to say, the Pirates were very disappointed.
“It was pretty frustrating,” Poteau senior lineman Jarrett Demory said. “It just seemed like it was a ball game we should have won. It's a game was just consider a win every year, and we shouldn't lose that type of game. To come back in the fourth quarter, and have it taken away in the end, was kind of heartbreaking.”
Demory said the Pirates are not looking back at the loss, but getting ready for this Friday night's Homecoming game against the Stilwell Indians at 7:30 p.m. at Costner Stadium. In fact, he said that it's almost like a new season is beginning.
“As of (Monday), it just felt like it was a start over for the rest of the year,” Demory said. “We're just taking these last five games as being even more bigger. We're just trying to move on (past the loss to Tulsa Webster).”
