Senior Night for Poteau Pirates Friday night against Broken Bow

WEEK 8 AWARD WINNERS — The Poteau Pirates Quarterback Club handed out its Bluebeard and Blackbeard Awards for last week's win over Muldrow. The home finale for the Poteau Pirates will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday night at Costner Stadium against the Broken Bow Savages. That's the regular-season home finale, that is.
“It's going to be a great night for our seniors,” Poteau coach Greg Werner said. “We have a great group we want to honor this week. So, we just need to go out and get a win. Of course, we're talking in terms of this isn't our last home game, it's our last regular-season home game.”
It's a pretty simple equation as far as the postseason is concerned. If the Pirates win out, they will do no worse than the No. 2 seed from District 4A-4. If they win out and the Commandos, who handed the Pirates their lone loss this season, lose one of their final two games, Poteau will be the top seed. If Poteau, Cascia Hall and Sallisaw all win out to make a three-way tie atop the district standings, Poteau would be the top seed based on district points.
