The Poteau Pirates football team put a lot into last week's homecoming game with the Fort Gibson Tigers. After going toe to toe with them, the Pirates ended up falling 49-21. Poteau senior running back Michael Reynolds said it was a somber mood in the locker room after the game.
â€śIt was sad,â€ť Reynolds said. â€śWe know we can't let it get the better of us. We have to get ready to go this week.â€ť
What a week of preparations it's been for the Pirates. They will get the honor or facing the top-ranked team in Class 4A, the Tulsa Cascia Hall Commandos at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Tulsa. Reynolds said the Pirates are looking forward to the challenge.
â€śWe have to take it to heart for what it is,â€ť he said. â€śIt's a great chance for us. Not everybody gets a chance to play the No. 1 team. If we play our game, and execute, I think we'll have a chance. Any team is beatable by anybody. I think we can get the job done.â€ť
