Several youth golfers win competition titles at sixth 'Mud Duck' Camp; record number of campers this year — 57
There were several winners among the record-setting 57 campers at the sixth annual Mark “Mud Duck” Sullivan Junior Golf Camp, which took place last month at Choctaw Country Club.There were four categories of competition — putting, chipping, closest to the pin and longest drive — in three age divisions — ages 12-14, 9-11 and 8 and younger — in both boys and girls.In putting, the boys age 12-14 champion was Ryan Ward, with Bryce Weldon second and Trenton Fassio third. Braxton Sullivan was crowned champion in the age 9-11 boys division, while Jack Buckles was runner-up and Jarrett Gregory third. Isaac Cook took the age 8-and-younger boys division putting championship, followed by Connor Whitworth and Tate Weldon in a tie for second place.As for girls' putting champions, Shelly Cobb bested the field in the age 12-14 division, with Callie Shore second and Kaley Armstrong third. Journey Perdue was champion in the age 9-11 division, as Maci White was runner-up and Haley Durant was third. Jayce Blake and Harlie White were putting co-champions in the age 8-and-younger girls division, with Addison Thomas taking third.In the age 8-and-younger boys division, Whitworth won the chipping competition, with Cook runner-up and Braden Brown was third. Sullivan got a second title of the camp as he was the best chipping golfer in the age 9-11 boys division, as Buckles was second and Kyle Cobb was third. Ward also claimed a second camp title as he was the chipping champion in the age 12-14 boys division, with Fassio second and Bryce Weldon third.Blake earned her second championship as she won the age 8-and-younger girls division chipping title, with Maggie Wheat runner-up and Kendy Traywick taking third. Perdue won her second of four titles, winning the chipping competition in the age 9-11 girls division, followed by Maci White in second and Durant in third. Shore claimed the chipping title in the age 12-14 girls division, with Armstrong second and Shelly Cobb third.Ward got his third championship of the camp competition as he claimed the top spot in the closest to the pin competition in the age 12-14 boys division, with Fassio runner-up and Kaegan Clark third. Gregory was the closest to the pin champion in the age 9-11 boys division, with Walker Snapp runner-up and Justus Coyle third. Cook earned his second camp competition championship as he was closest to the pin in the field of golfers in the age 8-and-younger boys division, followed by Brown in second and Whitworth in third.Shore got her second title of the camp competition, winning the closest to the pin title in the age 12-14 girls division, with Armstrong second and Shelly Cobb third. Perdue got her third championship, winning the closest to the pin title in the age 9-11 girls division, while Maci White was runner-up and Durant was third. Perdue's fourth competition championship came when she won the age 9-11 girls division longest drive competition, beating second-place finisher Durant and third-place finisher Maci White. Shore garner her third championship, winning the longest drive competition in the age 12-14 girls division, with Shelly Cobb second and Armstrong third.
