An argument between brothers ended in death Monday night in Muse Oklahoma. According to Sheriff Bruce Curnutt, the department received a call to report a shooting at approximately 6:55 pm. Officers arrived on the scene to find Stacey Joseph Wright,45, deceased in the back yard of the residence of his brother, Christopher D. Wright,46.
According to Sheriff Curnutt's statement, Stacey wright went to the home of Christopher Wright where and altercation then occurred. During the investigation it was determined that Stacey Wright had suffered from a gunshot wound to his abdomen and his arm. Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation was notified once the scene was determined to be a possible homicide. Officers secured the crime scene until OSBI arrived.
Christopher Wright has been placed under arrest and transported to the LeFlore County Detention Center , where he was formally booked on charges of possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction. it has yet to be determined at this time if he will face additional charges in the death of his brother. That decision will be made by the LeFlore County District Attorney's Office after they review all evidence in the case.
Oklahoma law Known as the "stand your ground", also knows as the "make my day" law may have a play in the decision to prosecute Christopher Wright.
The question still remains whether Christopher Wright was engaged in an unlawful activity by being in possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. It is possible for Christopher Wright to face prosecution as the law states, if the person who uses defensive force is engaged in an unlawful activity, or using the dwelling, residence, or occupied vehicle to further an unlawful activity, then the law does not apply.
