GREENWOOD, Ark. — For the second straight season, the sixth-grade Poteau Bandit League football team went through undefeated at 10-0 — as the team did so a season ago as fifth-graders going 9-0. However, this time it took a late score, and a bit of trickery, to get the second title.
Mason Barcheers ran for a 6-yard touchdown and Wade Hall kicked the conversion with 1:32 left in the game as the sixth-graders defeated Union Christian Academy from Fort Smith, Ark., 14-6 Saturday afternoon to win the Bandit Bowl.
Unfortunately, it was heartbreak for the third-grade Bandits, who lost 6-0 to Immaculate Catholic.
