Slow-pitch County Tournament going on this week at PARC — WITH UPDATED SCHEDULES

If last week's LeFlore County Baseball Tournament was not enough for you, there's good news.
The 2012 Slow-Pitch County Tournament started Monday at the Poteau Area Recreational Area and will end on Thursday. If you want to see the diamond dolls of the county in one place, here's your chance!
Setting
the Record Straight
Now that the 2012 LeFlore County Baseball Tournament is complete, Spiro Coach Paul Croft did want to make sure that all fans were aware of why the tournament took place in Spiro and not Arkoma — which was the host school.
As Arkoma Coach Mark Weatherton said, Arkoma did not have the facilities to host this season's event. Croft said it's written if a school cannot host the event, it's that school's responsibility to find a school that will.
Croft said it was the respective schools' superintendents, Arkoma's John Turner and Spiro's Dr. Don Atkinson, who talked. When Arkoma could not host the event, Spiro obliged. Croft wanted to make sure that he was not involved in the process of making Spiro the host school.
By the way, I do want to thank Spiro Public Schools and Panama for what ended up being Day 1 due to rain for being gracious hosts for this year's tournament. The hospitality rooms were great. You all can't be surprised at me saying that, now can you?
Next year's host school is Bokoshe.
District Assignments
Can you believe we're nearing the playoffs. Either this week or next week, Class A and B baseball and most or all of slow-pitch softball teams will find out their district assignment locations and teams from the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association.
As soon as I get them, they will be in the newspaper.
What Else Is Going On?
If the LeFlore County Slow-Pitch Tournament isn't enough for you, there are other tournaments fairly close by to pique your interest.
Cameron, Panama, Pocola and Spiro will be in the Sallisaw-Central Baseball Tournament, which begins today and ends on Saturday.
Poteau and Heavener will be in the Coal Miner's Classic in Wilburton Thursday through Saturday, while Leflore will represent LeFlore County in the Canadian Festival Thursday and Friday.
When the Heavener Lady Wolves and the Howe Lady Lions wrap up play in the county tournament this week, they will be in the Battiest Spring Classic at week's end.
The Poteau Lady Pirates will face Norman and Moore in the Muskogee Classic on Friday.
