Slow start dooms Whitesboro girls in Area Tournament loss to Caney

February 25, 2012

KINGSTON — If only the Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs could replay the opening period of Thursday afternoon's Class B Area Tournament game against Caney.
The Lady Bulldogs missed several baskets en route to a first-quarter deficit, which they were unable to overcome in a season-ending loss to the Lady Cougars by a score of 37-34.
The Lady Bulldogs end the season at 16-12.
The Lady Bulldogs fell behind 13-4 after one period after missing several close-in baskets. Caney had a 22-8 lead at halftime.
But Whitesboro would not quit. The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Cougars 26-15 in the second half, but the rally fell short.
