Spiro boys beat Pocola, which opens the LCT Day 1 with win over Arkoma; rain washes out Day 2 action

April 3, 2013

POCOLA — On Thursday afternoon, the Pocola Indians came within an eyelash of knocking off the Spiro Bulldogs, only to fall short by the score of 4-3.
The same two teams met Monday afternoon in the winner’s-bracket quarterfinals of the LeFlore County Tournament. Unfortunately for the homestanding Indians, the outcome was the same.
The Bulldogs downed the Indians 9-2 after the Indians opened the day with a 15-1 rout of the Arkoma Mustangs.
Tuesday’s Day 2 slate of games was rained out. The Bulldogs will meet the Wister Wildcats in a rematch of last year’s title game in the winner’s-bracket quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Friday in Cameron.
The Indians will meet the Whitesboro Bulldogs at noon Friday in Cameron, with the winner meeting the Howe Lions immediately afterward at 2 p.m. Friday.
The Mustangs will play Panama at 2 p.m. Friday at Poteau High School’s Town Creek Park.
