Spiro boys stay alive, beat Coalgate Wildcats; Bulldogs to Tulsa Victory Christian this afternoon in consolation semifinals

FORT GIBSON — The Spiro Bulldogs staved off elimination in the Class 3A playoffs for the third straight game as they defeated the Coalgate Wildcats 49-33 Thursday afternoon in the area tournament.
The ’Dogs will meet Tulsa Victory Christian here at 3 p.m. this afternoon in the consolation semifinals. This afternoon's winner will play for the Class 3A Area Tournament consolation title, and a trip to next week's state tournament, here at 8 p.m. Saturday against the loser of tonight's area final between Kansas and Keys (Park Hill) — of which the victor will advance to the Class 3A State Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs played their first of what they hope is three wins Thursday night as they met Wilburton, with that winner playing here at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon Sequoyah-Tahlequah, which beat Keys (Park Hill) Thursday afternoon, in the consolation semifinals. Today's winner will then play here at 6:30 p.m. Saturday for the consolation title, and a trip to state.
