The Spiro Bulldogs brought home some hardware for the second straight weekend. In a battle of Bulldogs, Spiro handled Valliant 61-47 to win the Class 3A Regional Tournament's consolation championship game Saturday afternoon at Carl Albert State College's Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.
The Lady Bulldogs tried to do likewise with bringing some hardware home for a second straight weekend, but they fell to the Salina Lady Wildcats 59-36 in Saturday night's regional title game at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.
Both Spiro teams will play in this week's Class 3A Area Tournament in Fort Gibson. The ’Dogs (17-8) will play Coalgate at 3 p.m. Thursday, while the Lady Bulldogs (14-10) will meet Wilburton at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Both teams have to win three games in three days to advance to next week's Class 3A State Tournament.
