- Mini Penny
The dictionary defines them as “a thin cake made of batter, poured on a hot, greased skillet and cooked on both sides until brown."
You may have called them griddle cakes, flapjacks, an excuse for lots of syrup — maybe even pancakes. Whatever you call them, they will be great breakfast eating on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Spiro First United Methodist Church.
And that's just the start of a fun- and food-filled day as the annual Car and Arts and Crafts Shows get underway.
Spiro United Methodist Men and Spiro Boy Scouts will be flipping some of the best flapjacks and pouring coffee at the Annual Pancake Breakfast.
For $5 for adults and $3 for children, you can have all the pancakes you can eat along with bacon, sausage, juice and coffee. Proceeds will help United Methodist Men missions like the Spiro Scouts, the Spiro Food Pantry and other projects. The Spiro First United Methodist Church is on the corner of Broadway and Main at the stoplight in Spiro.Â
Along with the breakfast, the United Methodist Women will hold a baked goods Sale. Proceeds will help with mission projects like helping with missions like the food pantry, Methodist Mondays and the Children’s Home in Tahlequah. With a wide selection of homemade goodies in the fellowship hall and the great pancake breakfast, it will be a no diets allowed morning. They will also have the Spiro Methodist Church Cookbook and RADA orders.Â
At the same time will be the United Methodist Youth Fellowship yard sale. Everything from clothes to toys to furniture will be available at very good prices. Proceeds will go to youth activities and mission projects. Donated items are still being accepted.
Then at lunch, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the youths will have brisket sandwiches and meals for sale. There will be a booth on Main Street, so look for wonderful food to help a great cause.
The breakfast, yard sale, lunch and baked goods sale are the same day as the annual Spiro Car and Arts and Crafts Show.
That way you can fill your belly with great food and then go down Main Street to see some beautiful show cars and great arts and crafts.
