Spiro looks to rebound from homecoming loss in District 3A-8 opener Friday night at Idabel

September 22, 2011

The Spiro Bulldogs were on the cusp of being 2-1 entering this week's District 3A-8 opener at Idabel.
Instead, a turnover converted into a game-winning field goal by Roland made the Rangers a 10-7 winner to spoil the ’Dogs' homecoming game last Friday night at McClain Stadium.
The good thing is the players seemingly have put that game behind them and are focusing on the district opener at 7:30 p.m. this Friday on the road against the Warriors.
“I think we've put that game behind us,” Spiro Coach Chris Bunch said. “You don't want to get beat on your home field or for homecoming, especially the way the game ended up happening. We beat them in total yards, except special team yards — we gave up too many special teams yards to them. We held them to less than 100 yards of offense, and when you do that you should win the game — but that didn't happen.”
