SPIRO — The good news was that Spiro football coach Chris Bunch saw some improvement in his team from last week's home scrimmage with Okmulgee to Thursday night's scrimmage at McClain Stadium against the Stilwell Indians.
“I saw some improvement in certain spots,” Spiro coach Chris Bunch said. “We still have some kids who are banged up and didn't get to play as much as I was wanting them to. Hopefully, we'll get those guys back by next week, but I did see some improvement.”
Unfortunately, the one thing that Bunch was hoping to see that he didn't was that his players were in better condition.
“I didn't think we handled it very well,” he said. “We were still sucking for air. If we made a big play, we had to come out [due to weariness]. That means we're not in shape yet, and we're playing a lot of young kids. I think our biggest problem is getting into shape. The only thing I didn't see improvement in was our conditioning. We'll get to work on that more next week.”
