HENRYETTA — Last week, the Spiro High School basketball teams were celebrating sweeping the titles at the previous weekend's Class 3A District Tournament at the Spiro Multipurpose Gym. This week, they're celebrating doing the same thing at the regional tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs and ’Dogs swept the title games at the Class 3A Regional Tournament. The girls routed the Beggs Golden Demons 70-46, while the boys outlasted Lincoln Christian in a battle of Bulldogs.
Both teams will play in the finals of the Class 3A Area Tournament on Friday night in Skiatook, with a win putting them into next week's state tournament. The Lady Bulldogs will meet the state's top-ranked team, the Adair Lady Warriors, at 6:30 p.m., followed by the ’Dogs meeting the Nowata Ironmen at 8 p.m.
The losers of both games will still have a chance to make state in Saturday night's consolation finals at 6:30 p.m. (girls) and 8 p.m. (boys), respectively.
