Sporting events today, Wednesday weathered out

March 4, 2014

For the second and third straight days, Mother Nature was the big winner of outdoor high school and college athletic events.
Remnants from Sunday's sleet storm caused games to be canceled Tuesday and today.
High school baseball games canceled today were Pocola at Talihina, Wister at Spiro, Providence Academy at Arkoma, Eagletown at Howe, Leflore at Panola and Panama at Keota.
In fact, all baseball games for Howe, Pocola and Talihina are canceled all week due to high school basketball playoffs. Arkoma's baseball games also are canceled all week due to the combination of just ending boys basketball and due to the girls basketball team making state.
Today's high school softball games lost to the weather were Buffalo Valley at Cameron and Heavener at Roland.
None of the prep games on the diamond has been rescheduled.
Carl Albert State College's home baseball doubleheader against Seminole State on Tuesday afternoon at Ival Goodman Field was canceled, with no make up date set. The Vikings will be in a 3-way Saturday afternoon at Seminole State with Indian Hills beginning at 3 p.m.
Wednesday afternoon's CASC softball road twinbill at Coffeyville, Kan., was canceled due to inclement weather conditions. No make-up date has been set. The Lady Vikings are scheduled to play a road doubleheader Thursday at Fort Scott, Kan., beginning at 1 p.m.
