The 2012 Main Street Matters Golf Tournament was canceled on Friday at Choctaw Country Club.
It has been rescheduled for 10 a.m. Aug. 24 at Choctaw Country Club.

Carl Albert State College Assistant Softball Coach Megan Young will give softball lessons at $25 per hour to girls up through age 18.

Friday Couple Scrambles will take place at 5:30 p.m. every Friday at Wolf Ridge Golf Course.

The Poteau Lady Pirates Softball Dugout Club will have a Sunday hamburger social from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bob Lee Kidd Civic Center on the Poteau High School campus.
Tickets cost $5 per person and may be purchased from any player or at the door on Sunday. There will also be a pie auction at the social.

The Poteau Fall Softball League will be Sept. 17-Oct. 25. The league will have three divisions, ages 12-, 10- and 8-and-younger. There will be six teams in the age 12-and-younger league, while the other two leagues will have 12 teams. The entry fee is $300 per team for the age 12-and-younger league, while the entry fee is $250 per team in the other two leagues.
The age 12-and-younger league will play games beginning at 6 p.m. Mondays, 10-and-younger league games will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesdays and league games for the age 8-and-younger league is 6 p.m. Thursdays.

The Boys and Girls Club of McAlester will put on a competitive baseball and softball league.
It is believed sports encourages a healthy lifestyle in our youth, which is a rising concern to many. Sports also promotes high self esteem in children that will benefit them in many aspects.

The Holiday Island (Ark.) Rotary Club Dettwiller/Lehr Golf Tournament will take place Aug. 25-26 at Holiday Island County Club.
Entry fee for each two-player team is $300, which includes both rounds of golf with golf carts, lunch both days and a reception/dinner on Aug. 25.
