There will be a Poteau softball parents meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the high school softball field.
Right afterward, the Poteau Softball Dugout Club will meet.
The Lady Pirates' first practice will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, and players will need to bring their physicals forms and other necessary paperwork at that time.

Poteau High School students who will participate in extra-curricular activities this upcoming school year will have their drug testing take place next month inside the senior hall of the high school.
Drug testing will take place from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday as well as from 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 14.
Cost is $10 cash per student.

Registration is open for the 2013 LeFlore County Express Fall Soccer League.
Registration can be done through the Internet at www.leflorecountysoccer.com.
Late registration cost per child is $40.

Arkoma Public Schools physicals for all athletes will take place beginning at 9 a.m. Aug. 9 at the high school.

The Heavener High School football tailgate party will begin around 6 p.m. Aug. 12 at Harvey Stadium.
There will be many spirit items for sale at various booths.
There will be hamburgers and hotdogs as well as other concessions.
There will a water slide and a bounce house for children (tickets required).
The HHS cheerleaders and football players will be introduced followed by a mini scrimmage around 8:30 p.m.

There will be age 8-, 10- and 12-and-younger softball leagues at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex this fall.
The entry fee is $250 for 8- and 10-and-younger teams, while the entry fee is $300 for the 12-and-younger teams.
Games will begin the week of Sept. 16 and end the week of Oct. 23.

There will be a fall baseball coach-pitch league in Heavener.
The league will begin its season in September and last for four weeks.
The league is open to only the first eight teams.
