Buccaneer Basketball registration has begun. Registration forms can be picked up at Poteau City Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Cost to register is $25 per player and deadline to enter is Friday.
Anyone interested in coaching a team needs to contact Billy Bond at (918) 647-1939.
The draft will be Wednesday.

The 2013 Eagle Crest 4-Ball Golf Tournament will be Saturday and Sunday at Eagle Crest Golf Course in Fort Smith, Ark.
Tee-time Saturday will be 8 a.m. Entry fee is $450 per two-man team.
Proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of the Alma (Ark.) Area.

The Stars Basketball Tournament will take place Nov. 2-3 at the Spiro High School Multipurpose Gym.
Entry fee is $125 per team, and there is a three-game guarantee.
The tournament is for boys and girls in grades three through eight.

The Spiro Bulldogs Basketball team is having a fundraiser to pay for warm up suits for the upcoming season.
The sale will end next Friday.

Eastern Oklahoma State College will host a fall Showcase Camp for high school baseball players at noon Sunday in Wilburton.
EOSC coach Craig Price said participants will receive recruiting exposure while competing against top-tier talent.
Position player skill evaluations will take place at the beginning of camp. All position players will run a 60-yard dash, be evaluated at their respective positions and finish with batting practice. Pitchers will also throw a bullpen to evaluate arm strength and pitching ability.
The camp is $100 for two-way players and $75 for a single position.
Pre-registration is required and will begin at 11:30 a.m. prior to the Showcase.

The Poteau Literacy Council is having a drawing at 4 p.m. Nov. 1 for two tickets to the Oklahoma City Thunder's game Nov. 10 against the Washington Wizards at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
The prize package also includes two team T-shirts, $50 in gas and a night's stay at the Colcord Hotel a block from the arena.
Tickets for the drawing cost $10 and six tickets for $50.
There is no need to be present for the drawing.
Tickets may be purchased at the Poteau Literacy Council's offices on Dewey Avenue in Poteau, Patrick Lynch Library, The Community State Bank, at next week's Balloon Fest and from any board member.

The Poteau Pirates football team will have meet-and-greet event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Bob Lee Kidd Civic Center.
Besides getting acquainted with this year's Pirate players, there will be an auction for items such as merchandise, gift certificates and baked goods.
Hamburger/cheeseburger baskets will be available for $5, which includes chips and a drink.

Spiro Youth Basketball League is opening sign ups for the 2013-14 season until Nov. 6.
A meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Spiro Multipurpose Gym. This meeting will be an overview of the league and for anyone with questions. This is not a mandatory meeting. This is for anyone who has some questions or interested in being a coach.
Teams will be drafted Nov. 12. Coaches will be the only ones needed at this meeting. Times will be sent to the coaches.
