The Poteau Pirates, an age 14-and-younger softball team, will have a fundraising brown bag lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Poteau High School parking lot. The brown bag lunch will consist of a hamburger/cheeseburger, chips and a drink for $6. All proceeds will help the team fund its trip to the state tournament later this summer.• • •There will be a junior golf clinic beginning Wednesday at Wolf Ridge Country Club for youth ages 5 and older.The clinic for ages 5 to 17 will be from 4 to 5 p.m. every Wednesday for the next four weeks. Cost is $10 per golfer per session.The clinic for ages 18 and older will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday for four weeks. The opening night of the league was rained out this past Monday night.The league will run every Monday until July 28.The entry fee is $45 per three-player team. There will be a $5 green fee per night for each player that is not a member of Choctaw Country Club. The age limit has been dropped, but those youth ages 13 and younger will hit from the red tees.The teams will consist of three players, men and/or women and/or children ages 12 or older. The nine-hole scramble for this division will be at 10 a.m.There will be an open division for the teams with sons and/or daughters who are out of school. There will be 90 percent cash payout based upon the number of teams in the field.
