Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2012 Poteau High School Sports Hall of Fame.
Categories include: football, boys and girls basketball, baseball, fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls track, boys and girls golf, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls all-around athlete, wrestling, coaching and support and service.
The deadline to submit nominations is March 30.

The LeFlore County Express spring soccer season sign-ups are currently under way until next Saturday.
The league will have six age divisions for boys and girls — ages 16, 14, 12, 10, 8 and 6 and younger.
Registration fee is $50 per child or $45 each for families registering more than one child.
Registration forms are available at all LeFlore County schools or can be picked up at Buckles Law Office at 109 Beard Street, Edward Jones Investments at 2106 North Broadway, Farmers Insurance next to Marvin's IGA on South Broadway. Forms may be turned in at any of these locations as well as being mailed in to: LeFlore County Soccer Association, P.O. Box 1297, Poteau, OK 74953.
Forms will not be accepted without copies of birth certificates of those registering and entry fee payments.

The Early Bird Golf Tournament will begin at 9 a.m. March 3 at Wolf Ridge Golf Course.
The entry fee for the four-person scramble is $25 per person for members and $50 per person for guests.

A mandatory umpires meeting will take place at 1 p.m. March 11 at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex.
Any umpires that misses this meeting will required to attend a meeting in another city or state before being able to call at the PARC.

The first Green Country softball meeting will take place at 1 p.m. March 10 at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse. All teams who are interested in playing at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex for the upcoming season must send a coach or representative to this meeting.

The first Poteau City League meeting will take place at 11:30 a.m. March 10 at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse. Anyone who is interested in coaching a team for the upcoming season must attend this meeting.

There will be tryouts for the 2012 OK Kids Midget Baseball Leagues at 11 a.m. March 11 and March 25 at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex.
Those players wishing to try out must not have turned age 13 before Jan. 1.

Alumni football is coming to Poteau. Gridiron Alumni is planning several full contact alumni football games.
Gridiron Alumni travels the nation pitting old football rivals against each other one more time.
Players are needed to sign up, and the first 40 players on each team get to play.
The team that gets 30 people registered first gets home-field advantage.
Last year, hundreds of players and thousands of fans swarmed stadiums to watch their home town heroes strap it on one more time. This year, Gridiron Alumni would like to bring alumni football to the whole state of Oklahoma.
Teams from Poteau, Heavener, Panama, Pocola, Spiro and other area teams are forming now.
Games are scheduled for March and April, but spots and game dates fill up fast.

The Oklahoma State University Spring Break Baseball Camp will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 20 at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater. Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. that morning.
At 6:30 p.m. that night, the Cowboys will play Central Arkansas at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
Entry fee is $100. Walk-ins are welcome, but entry fee for them will be $125.
The camp is open to boys in grades two through 12.

The Boys and Girls Club of McAlester will put on a competitive baseball and softball league.
It is believed sports encourages a healthy lifestyle in our youth, which is a rising concern to many.
Sports also promotes high self esteem in children that will benefit them in many aspects.

The Satchel Paige All-Stars Travel Baseball Team is looking for youth baseball players ages 13-14, 15-16 and 17-18 years old that would like to be a part of our 2012 Summer Travel Baseball Team that will include trips to Cincinnati, Omaha, Neb., Springfield, Mo., Orlando, Fla., and Puerto Rico.
