Although the Trojan War was centuries ago, the Poteau Pirates football team will be in one this afternoon in the Class 4A state semifinals.
The Pirates (11-1) will face the Oklahoma City Douglass Trojans (11-1) at 1:30 this afternoon at McAlester's Hook Eales Stadium. The winner will meet the victor of this weekend's other state semifinal between Anadarko and Wagoner in the state championship game on Friday at Oklahoma State University's Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater.

There will be a send off for the Pirates beginning at approximately 9 this morning.
Fans are asked to line Broadway from Baetz Home Center south to Bud's.
Also, for those fans who wish, they may join in behind the team bus and form a caravan to McAlester.

To Get There — Take U.S. 271 south to Wister. Take U.S. 270 west to McAlester. Once in McAlester, U.S. 270 becomes Carl Albert Boulevard. Proceed west on Carl Albert Boulevard to Sixth Street. Turn right and proceed to Hook Eales Stadium.
Due to a reporting error, the story on Page 1A of today's physical edition accidentally had the wrong directional turn onto Sixth Street. However, today's e-edition and our Facebook page, as well as this story, do have the correct directions. The Poteau Daily News regrets the error.
