State unemployement continues to rise

July 26, 2013

As has been the trend since April, statewide unemployment rates continued to rise during June.
In the three month period, more than 6,000 Oklahoman's have lost their means of employment, according to the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.
In June, Oklahoma reported 5.2 percent of the workforce was unemployed, nationally that rate was 7.6 percent.
Oklahoma's seasonally adjusted employment also took a hit, eliminating 4,790 jobs.
Of Oklahoma's nine statewide supersectors, five of the job-type categories reported job losses during June. Since May, three supersectors added jobs. Trade, Transportation and Utilities saw the largest gain of 1,300 jobs added.
