High winds and torrential rains left their mark across LeFlore County early Wednesday morning.
Residents in Poteau woke up to trees blown over, roads covered in water and mud and roads that had partially washed away. Traffic along Whitney Avenue was condensed to one lane after the a large portion of the north side of the road took a slide into a creek. Amos Street was unpassable at the South McKenna intersection after a large tree fell across the road. City workers equipped with chainsaws, front-end loaders and a dump truck were out early clearing debris.
Some residents spent the early morning hours without electricity after strong winds and falling trees damaged power lines in Heavener and Spiro.
According to Emergency Management Director Michael Davidson, the largest rainfall amount was recorded overnight in Panama at 6 inches.
