OKLAHOMA CITY — Favorite Announcer launched from the Remington Park starting gate Thursday night in his $36,800 allowance race for Oklahoma-breds, seized the lead, and never looked back. The speedy 3-year-old drew clear to win the 1 mile-70 yard race by an easy five lengths to post his third straight victory this season.
Owned by Danny Caldwell of Poteau and trained by Federico Villafranco, Favorite Announcer was ridden with confidence by Jose Medina. After leading the field through the second turn, Medina let Favorite Announcer go and the gelding opened up a wide margin on his competitors, leading by as many as six lengths in the stretch. Crossing the finish with plenty of energy in reserve, Favorite Announcer stopped the clock in 1:42.77 over the fast track.
