Summer music camp starts Monday

July 5, 2013

Poteau First United Methodist Church will host the third annual Summer Music Camp the week of July 8-12.
The camp will take place daily from 9 a.m. to noon with a performance at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12.
The camp is for students who have completed first grade up through high school. Students will learn and put together a musical production for the Friday night performance. They will be responsible for not only the music and drama, but also costume, stage and production design.
The camp will be directed by Matthew Houston, who has led elementary music and worship skills at First United Methodist since 2007. During this time he has helped put together more than a dozen musical productions. Houston is also a National Board Certified Teacher who teaches band, choir, and fifth-grade music at Heavener Schools and the director of the Treble Choir of Cavanal Chorale, the award-winning children’s choir.
