Talihina basketball girls seek another 20-win season as they open season tonight at Heavener

November 30, 2012

The Talihina Lady Golden Tigers basketball team went 22-6 last season and were LeFlore County Tournament runners-up. They expect much the same this season, which will begin with a 6:30 p.m. contest tonight against the Heavener Lady Wolves in Heavener.
The Lady Golden Tigers return two key players who saw a lot of starts a season ago — senior guard/forward Tara Hawkins (7.1 points, 6.8 rebounds a season ago) and senior forward Jazmin Humphreys (4.0, 3.3).
Editor's note — No preseason information on the Talihina boys have been received yet. Once the information on the Golden Tigers, as well as other LeFlore County teams, has been received — and their season openers approach — look for their season-preview stories to appear. Any coach which needs a questionnaire sent to them, call sports editor David Seeley at (918) 647-3188 or e-mail to sports@poteaudailynews.com.
