After one year as coach of the Talihina Golden Tigers basketball team, Coach Darrick Farriell is moving on.
Farriell will become the new coach of the Stuart Hornets.
“It was a job I had my eye on for a while,” Farriell said. “It's a basketball-baseball school. You get to start playing a month early, and have that much more practice time — unlike a football school. It's a small school. The kids work hard there, and that was something that made me excited.”
It did not take long to find Farriell's successor. Talihina Assistant Girls Coach/Softball Coach Darian Dickson will take over. Dickson coached boys basketball at Thackerville, Amber-Pocasset and Bray-Doyle before coming to Talihina.
“It's going to be good to be back on the (boys') sidelines,” Dickson said. “We're really excited about it. I had a great two years helping coaching the girls with Coach (Jeff) Oliver.”
