Talihina football team hits the road Friday night to face Canadian

October 11, 2012

Kelly Gravitt, Talihina's football coach, could not be happier with his Golden Tigers' 6-0 start to the season, or with how they played in last week's 51-20 victory over Sallisaw-Central at Doc Robinson Stadium.
“I'm real pleased,” Gravitt said. “The kids did a great job Friday night. We came out with a different look in our eyes. In the last seven years I've been here, Sallisaw-Central has been our toughest game. We had a sense of urgency. We didn't let the distractions get to us. The kids came out and got after it early. Before we knew it, we were up 21-0, and that kind of let the wind out of their sails. Our offense and defense played great. When you score 51 points, it's hard to not be pleased with your offense.”
The Golden Tigers (2-0 in District A-6) will hit the road to meet the Canadian Cougars for another district game at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
