WARNER — The Talihina Lady Golden Tigers took the first step in a four-game postseason winning streak to the Class 2A State Tournament in fine fashion Saturday night as they defeated the host Warner Lady Eagles 54-20 to win the district tournament.
The Lady Golden Tigers are now just three wins away from the Class 2A State Tournament. They will face Hulbert at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Warner, with another win putting them into not only Saturday night's regional title game but automatically qualifying them for next week's Class 2A Area Tournament at the new Wilburton Gym.
The Golden Tigers split their games at this past weekend's Class 2A District Tournament. They defeated the host Eagles 54-48 in Friday night's elimination game, but fell 43-32 to Summit Christian in Saturday night's title game.
The Golden Tigers will have to win three games in three days at the Class 2A Regional Tournament in Warner this week, beginning with a contest against Sallisaw-Central at 3 p.m. Thursday.
