Talihina Golden Tigers visit Savanna Bulldogs for Friday night District A-6 football showdown
The Talihina Golden Tigers football team has done everything in its power to get to the top of District A-6. However, the Golden Tigers (8-0 overall, 4-0 in district play) are getting ready to meet their two toughest district games of the season. The first of them is at 7:30 p.m. Friday on the road against the Savanna Bulldogs (7-1, 3-1).Talihina leads District A-6 as the only unbeaten team to this point at 4-0, with Sallisaw-Central in second place at 4-1 (the Tigers will play a non-district game this week against Meeker). Savanna and Gore (Talihina's regular-season finale opponent at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at Doc Robinson Stadium) are both at 3-1. The good news is the Golden Tigers have made the playoffs, after missing them last season. Now, the goal at hand is a district title.“We've got ourselves assured a playoff spot,” said Kelly Gravitt, Talihina's coach. “These last two weeks, we're going to face the best two teams of the district. We just have to execute and take care of business to get a district title.”— — —District A-6 StandingsTeam District Overall +/-Talihina-x 4-0 8-0 +60Sallisaw-Central-x 4-1 4-4 +45Savanna-x 3-1 7-1 +43Gore-x 3-1 5-3 +17Canadian 1-4 3-4 -45Haileyville 0-4 0-7 -60Quinton 0-4 2-6 -60x — Clinched playoff berth.— — —To Get There — Take Oklahoma State Highway 1 west to McAlester.
