Talihina hits road once more, faces Gore Pirates tonight

September 9, 2011

The Talihina Golden Tigers opened the 2011 season with a 31-7 win on the road over the Haileyville Warriors last Friday night. The win was pleasing in a lot of ways for Talihina Coach Kelly Gravitt.
“I thought that over the first three weeks of practice we were slow,” he said. “We were anxious to see what the kids would do on their first Friday night. We had kids who stepped up, and they came into their own. Clark (Austin) really did a great job at quarterback. He did a good job of making his reads and throwing the ball. He, too, came into his own. We just need to get better each week. Our kids stepped up, and they hadn't really done that in the two previous scrimmages, and we opened up with a win.”
