Talihina, Howe girls reach tonight's championship game; Wister girls, Leflore boys win consolation championship contests

SPIRO — The Talihina Lady Golden Tigers and the Howe Lady Lions will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at the Spiro Gym to decide who will claim the championship of the 80th LeFlore County Tournament.
Thursday night at the Spiro Gym, the third-seeded Lady Golden Tigers held off the second-seeded Spiro Lady Bulldogs 51-49 in the last championship semifinal contest.
In the first championship semifinal, the top-seeded Lady Lions had no problems with the fourth-seeded Bokoshe Lady Tigers in a 71-37 victory.
Spiro and Bokoshe will play for third place at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon at the Spiro Gym.
The boys' championship game will be at 8:30 p.m. tonight at the Spiro Gym, but the match-up was not set until Friday night in the championship semifinals — second-seeded Poteau against third-seeded Heavener and No. 1 Spiro against No. 4 Wister. The winners will be in the title game, while the losers will play for third place at 3 p.m. at the Spiro Gym.
The first trophies were also handed out on Thursday as the consolation championship games took place.
The Wister Lady Wildcats had to go into overtime to defeat the Pocola Lady Indians 67-58, while the Leflore Savages tamed the Panama Razorbacks 53-35.
