Talihina looks to keep things going this week with home game against Canadian

October 16, 2013

The Talihina Golden Tigers football team continues to claw its way to wins, with the latest one being a 47-14 win over Sallisaw-Central last week.
“Defensively, we payed better than we played all year,” Talihina coach Kelly Gravitt said. “The kids were on cue and were fast to the ball. Everybody played assignment football. On offense, we were a bit sluggish on our first possession as [Sallisaw-Central] coach [Jeremy] Thompson was showing us a lot of defensive packages. But after that first drive, they got jacked up and were better.”
The Golden Tigers (6-0, 2-0 in District A-6) are still atop the district standings, which is right where they want to be.
“We do like where we're at at this time,” Gravitt said. “If we can get pas these two ball games, Canadian and Haileyville, maybe we'll be playing for a district title right here against Savanna [on Nov. 1].”
The Golden Tigers will entertain the Canadian Cougars (1-4, 1-2) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Doc Robinson Stadium.
