Talihina senior jumper makes tough decision on her way to state meet; Brown makes choice to miss graduation ceremony to jump at regional meet for shot at state

May 8, 2014

KEISHA BROWN

There's an old adage that says that people make choices that “ ... are the lesser of two evils.” Talihina High School senior high and long jumper Keisha Brown had to make such a decision.
Brown's choice was to one of two things, either attend graduation ceremonies and miss out on last Saturday's Class 2A Regional Meet in Luther with a shot at making state in either or both event, or miss graduation and jump at the regional meet. Brown did the latter, and made state in both events — being the regional champion in the high jump and the regional runner-up in the long jump.
“I was totally excited when I qualified for state in both events, but yet I also had a small sad feeling because I had to make a big decision between the regional track meet and my senior graduation, “ Brown said. “In my opinion, I made the more memorable choice.”
