Talihina wrestlers get wins in triangular with Checotah at Sequoyah-Tahlequah

January 18, 2012

TAHLEQUAH — While it was more of a practice triangular when the Talihina Golden Tigers wrestling team visited Sequoyah-Tahlequah along with Checotah Monday night, several locals got at least one win on the night.
Three Talihina matmen got two wins as Andrew Young (160 pounds), Dylan Chancellor (195) and Bryan Young (220) each beat their opponent from Sequoyah-Tahlequah and Checotah, while Brian Collins (182) got a win over his Checotah opponent as Sequoyah-Tahlequah did not have a 182-pounder.
Several members of the Talihina Youth Wrestling Club also participated in the action Monday night. Triston Blummel got two wins on the night, while Emily Gwinn, Payton Kirkes and Heath Humphreys all got a win. Kaedon Potts, John Grogan and Bryan Lester also participated but did not win.
The Golden Tigers, who were in their Class 2A District Duals Tuesday at Vian with Quinton, Sequoyah-Tahlequah, Keys (Park Hill) and Hulbert, will return to action next Tuesday at Hulbert at 7 p.m. — which will count toward the district duals.
