Talihina wrestlers place at McAlester Tournament

January 8, 2013

McALESTER — Several Talihina High School wrestlers placed in this past weekend’s McAlester Tournament, which took place Friday and Saturday at Brumley Gym.
Caleb Blue was runner-up at heavyweight to be the Golden Tigers’ highest placer.
Three matmen — Derek Lester (108 pounds), Triston Blummel (134) and Nathan Mitchell (220) — were all fourth, while Mike Harjo was fifth at 162 pounds.
The Golden Tigers will have their first duals of the season tonight as they will be a part of the Poteau triangular with the host Pirates and Fort Smith (Ark.) Southside, which will begin at 7 p.m. at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse.
Editor’s note — Nothing was reported by press time on the Poteau wrestlers at the Cushing Tournament.
