A Talihina teen is facing first degree
manslaughter charges and two counts of
person involved in a personal injury
accident while under the influence of
alcohol after the LeFlore County District
Attorneyâ€™s Office filed charges
Brandon Ervin Brown, 15, of Talihina,
is accused of causing the death of 13 year
old Dalton Adams in an automobile accident
that occurred on May 20, 2011.
According to the accident report submitted
by State Trooper Orlando Perez,
Brown was driving a 2000 Mercury
Cougar approximately four miles west
and three miles south of Whitesboro on a
county dirt road when he lost control of
the vehicle. Brown, along with Adams
and two other minors were in the vehicle
when the accident occurred at 2:40 a.m.
The investigation into the accident led
investigators to determine that the car
was traveling northbound when it ran off
the right side of the road. Brown then
overcorrected and the car crossed the
road and ran off the left side of the dirt
road and overturned one time, coming to
rest on its wheels.
Adams was ejected from the car and
pronounced dead at the scene due to
massive internal and external injuries.
The accident report showed he was not
wearing his seatbelt at the time of the
The two other minors were both transported
by LeFlore County EMS to the
Choctaw Nation Hospital in Talihina and
were treated and released for minor injuries.
Brown was not injured in the accident.
