Things look favorable for a Senior Night win for Poteau on Friday

October 29, 2012

The Poteau Pirates will have their Senior Night at 7:30 p.m. Friday against the Tulsa Rogers Ropers.
The Ropers were at one time one of the better schools in the state, and I understand that they won several state championships along the way. However, somewhere along the way something happened, and they completely stopped playing football.
As they attempt to resurrect their football program, the Ropers were assigned to District 4A-4. They play at the same stadium as Tulsa Webster, and this year they're comprised of freshmen and sophomores. They have not won a game, and in district play they are giving up about 50 points per game.
Obviously the Pirates should win this game. I hope they get to play their entire roster.
By the way, Poteau starting quarterback Jace Pitchford told me that he thought his knee was OK. He suffered the injury in Friday night's game against Broken Bow.
