Half of the Poteau Bandit League football teams are still alive in the postseason. The third-grade team defeated Greenwood (Ark.) Gray 18-12 in overtime Saturday in Greenwood. The next playoff game is a road contest against Van Buren (Ark.) White at 3:15 p.m. next Saturday.
The fifth-grade team got a bye into the second round of the playoffs, and will play its first postseason game at 3:30 p.m. Saturday against Van Buren Green at Costner Stadium right after the 2012 Bandit Bowl contest, which will begin at noon.
However, the seasons came to an end for the sixth-grade and fourth-grade Bandit League teams last Saturday. The sixth-grade team fell 24-12 to Greenwood Blue in Greenwood, while the fourth-grade lost 34-8 to Van Buren White in Van Buren.
