Thursday’s action on the diamond rained out

Once again this week, Mother Nature was the big winner.
Thursday afternoon’s games on the baseball and softball diamonds were rained out.
Talihina’s baseball game in the Atoka Tournament was rained out Thursday. Talihina coach Jon Bradberry said the tournament likely will become a two-day tournament beginning today.
Since Arkoma baseball coach Mark Weatherton thought his Mustangs would be eliminated from this week’s LeFlore County Tournament, he scheduled his team for the three-day Gore Tournament that was to begin Thursday but was rained out. Weatherton said his Mustangs will play at 9 this morning against Hulbert in the Gore Tournament before playing Panama at 2 this afternoon in the LeFlore County Tournament at Town Creek Park.
Whitesboro’s Thursday afternoon home baseball game against Clayton was rained out and has not been rescheduled.
Softball games rained out were Stigler at Pocoola, Haileyville at Whitesboro, Cameron at McCurtain and Wister at Wilburton. The Stigler-Pocola and Cameron-McCurtain games have not been rescheduled at this time.
Whitesboro coach Kristi Branscum said the Haileyville-Whitesboro game possibly could be rescheduled later this month between the Class B district and regional tournaments — should both teams advance past their respective district tournament.
Wister coach Kristie Jo Morgan said the Wister-Wilburton game will not be rescheduled at this point.
Carl Albert State College softball team’s home doubleheader that was rained out Thursday against Western Oklahoma State College, has been rescheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday.
