POCOLA â€” After a sluggish start in their first game back from break against Heavener on Tuesday night, things got started a lot more favorably in the Pocola Indians' home game Thursday night against the Cameron Yellowjackets.
The Indians jumped out to a 19-8 lead on the â€™Jackets en route to an 81-40 victory.
Leading 43-24 at halftime, the Indians put the game away with a 21-7 third quarter to take a 64-31 lead into the final period.
Panama 67, Bokoshe 46: In Bokoshe, the good news for the Tigers is they perhaps played their best game of the season, but they still fell short of posting their first win of the year.
The Razorbacks led 18-12 after a period, but then outscored the Tigers 26-7 in the second quarter to take a 44-19 lead at halftime.
Leflore 55, Clayton 41: In Leflore, the Savages, who took a four-game winning streak into Friday night's road game against Panola, led 29-22 at halftime, but then outscored the Bulldogs 15-0 in the third quarter to take a 44-22 lead into the final period.
Whitesboro 66, Buffalo Valley 38: In Whitesboro, the Bulldogs made it a successful night as their home renamed the Steve Linker Gymnasium in honor of their former late coach, who led the â€™Dogs for 17 seasons.
â€śIt was a special night,â€ť said Billy Karr, Whitesboro's first-year coach. â€śIt was a big win, especially for all the people who came who played for [Linker]. We were glad that they came out and got to see us get a big win.â€ť
Leading 16-12 after a period, the â€™Dogs put the game away with a 25-11 second period to take a 41-23 lead at halftime.
Wister 45, Smithville 42: In Wister, the Wildcats jumped out to a 17-7 lead after a period and were able to keep the Braves at bay the rest of the game.
