MULDROW — The Poteau Lady Pirates made this week a perfect one as they picked up a pair of wins in Thursday's three-way, beating host Muldrow 6-1 and blanking Stilwell 9-0.
Pocola 6, Heavener 5: In Heavener, the Lady Indians broke a scoreless tie with a four-run fourth inning and a single run in the fifth for a 5-0 lead.
The Lady Wolves had a four-run inning of their own in the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 5-4 after five innings, but they got no closer as Pocola scored a big insurance run in the sixth to make it 6-4.
That insurance run for Pocola proved huge as Heavener got that run back in the seventh inning, but a game-tying rally fell short for the hosts.
Panama 2, Wister 1: In Panama, Calista Buckley's RBI single in the seventh inning proved to be the game-winner for the Lady Razorbacks. She was 1-for-3 with the game-winning hit.
Wister scored once in the second inning to give the Lady Wildcats a 1-0 lead, but Panama tied the game at 1 in the fifth inning to set the stage for Buckley's heroics.
Cameron 8, Quinton 5; Buffalo Valley 8, Cameron 5: In Cameron, the Lady Yellowjackets split their games in Thursday's three-way.
Howe 4, Keota 3: In Keota, in a battle of Lady Lions, the LeFlore County ones prevailed, thanks to a pair of two-run innings in the fifth and sixth innings to put Howe ahead 4-1.
Keota scored twice in the seventh inning, but the rally fell short.
Wilburton 7, Spiro 0: In Spiro, the Lady Bulldogs could not muster much offense against the Lady Diggers, who scored three runs in first inning and a single run in the second inning for a 4-0 lead.
Red Oak 8, Whitesboro 0: In Red Oak, the Lady Eagles scored twice in the first inning and five runs in the second for a 7-0 lead. A fifth-inning run ended the game by run rule.
McCurtain 14, Bokoshe 0: In McCurtain, the Lady Tigers were shutout for the second straight time to open the season. Nothing more was reported on the game.
