Tournament for Whitney

July 25, 2011

The Wolf Ridge Golf Club of Poteau would like to
invite golfers to participate in their two man scramble
golf tournament to benefit a young woman in need of
surgery to remove a tumor.
Whitney Spangler, 22, of Poteau, was diagnosed with
a craniopharyngioma tumor in March 2010 and under
went a right frontal craniotomy to remove the tumor.
She was also treated with radioactive materials to stop
the growth of the tumor. That surgery was a success
and it allowed Whitney to return to her job at the Dennis
Bost State Farm Insurance Agency and to return to
CASC and complete her Associates Degree in
Business.
Having suffered from headaches and vision lost when
she was first diagnosed, Whitney became concerned
when the headaches returned and during one of her scheduled three month check ups, was told that a second
tumor had returned.
Facing a second surgery for the removal of the tumor,
Whitney has maintained her positive outlook and continues
to strive forward in life, slowing down only long
enough to recover from the surgery, already planning
her return to college in January to obtain her Bachelor’s
degree.
To help offset the costly surgery, Whitney’s friends
have organized the golf tournament scheduled for
September 24. The entry fee is $130 per team if paid
before September 20, and $150 if paid after. First tee
off in the tournament is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. with
the second tee off set for 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided
during the two man scramble and a mystery hole-in-one
prize will be awarded to the golfer who has the perfect
aim. If you would like to sponsor a hole, sponsorship
prices are: gold - $500, silver - $300, and bronze -
$125.
If you would like to pre-register or have any questions
regarding the tournament you can contact Wolf
Ridge Golf Club at 918-647-2582 or Nancy Ellis at

OK 74951.
